[Freebie] Watercolor Wednesday: Phone Wallpapers – Break Up with Your Phone

by Volta

Happy Watercolor Wednesday, friends!

This collection of wallpapers is inspired by my recent realization of how much I use my phone. (spoilers, it’s a lot!) Am I alone in this? Probably not. What really got to me was reading a story from a new mother who came to the same realization that she was capturing her baby’s life constantly, and that the baby’s perception growing up is having a device shoved into her face. So instead of forming cognizant features of humans and other objects, the first thing will probably be a rectangle object that we’re so enraptured with.

There are so many awesome benefits to using a smart phone, but when does it become too much? When we bust out our phone to record an experience and then forget to actually live it and never really look back at it? (Guilty of this myself, so guilty). When we have the weird compulsion to constantly check for new updates or notifications?

I want to reclaim my life off of the tiny screen and live it more. Even as an entrepreneur who uses the phone to build a business, I need to work on my boundaries.

I hope these wallpapers can serve as little reminders to put the phone down, to stop mindless scrolling and to get back into your craft, into your life, into your experience.

I’ll leave you off with this quote:

“It is not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a lot of it. Life is long enough, and a sufficiently generous amount has been given to us for the highest achievements if it were all well invested. But when it is wasted in heedless luxury and spent on no good activity, we are forced at last by death’s final constraint to realize that it has passed away before we knew it was passing. So it is: we are not given a short life but we make it short, and we are not ill-supplied but wasteful of it… Life is long if you know how to use it.”
